Since we had set up the living room as a space to hang out, we decided to put the air mattress down in the dining room. I pulled the mattress out of the bag and put the batteries into the pump. I spent probably 15+ minutes fighting with the pump before realizing that I foolishly purchased C batteries instead of D batteries (they all look the same once they're bigger than AA). I caught Jason before he came home so that he could pick some of the right size up on his way. Problem solved. At least, that problem was solved. Once we stated blowing up the mattress and it started unfolding from its squished up shape, I quickly realized that my parents had lent us a twin mattress. Neither Jason nor myself as small enough to share a TWIN mattress. Jason was naturally the better sport and opted to sleep on my puzzle squares that we so conveniently had brought with us. Surely this would be as comfortable as an air mattress. Surely not.
Supposedly, GE still makes those light bulbs if we wanted to replace them (only half of our bulbs still worked). I was happy to see the old ugly chandelier go away and see it replaced with (shockingly) the same light fixture that Rachel picked out for her dining room. I swear, she let me pick from the ceiling at Lowes and I still picked the same one as her.
We originally were going to continue the same color that we used in the living room into the dining room with the addition of an accent wall. We thought about making the accent wall a shade of red, since we incorporated red into our living room in our previous apartments. I'm glad that we paused on that decision, because after some thought, I decided that I wanted the dining room to be a little more bold and less subtle. I narrowed down the color choices and let Jason make the final call. Once I was able to get Rachel to come over and watch Micah, I finally had the chance to knock this room out!
When I finished, both Rachel and Jason told me that the old trim still looked good with the new color, but it wasn't what I wanted, so I was eager to add the trim color as soon as possible to get a better idea of what the room was going to look like. The next morning, I got up super early to tackle the picture window.
Once that dried, I was able to add the drawers to get a better idea of how the colors would all look together.
The rest of the trim was done a couple of days after that, but almost as soon as the paint dried and curtains were hung, boxes were piled into the room because the rent was due on our storage units and we were determined to get out of one of our two units before the next month began. (We were successful by the way.)
